The Insider’s Guide to 5 Wedding Saving Tips

Every bride dreams of having a perfect wedding, but without breaking a bank. The average British couple spends £21,000 on their wedding day. There are ways to bring this sum down and at the same time make your wedding unique and unforgettable.

1) Off-season wedding:

When choosing a wedding date out of the peak wedding months like May, June, July and August can save you a fortune. Another thing worth considering is the day of the week and the time at which you want your wedding to take place. The most expensive day of the week is Saturday night. Booking the wedding on a Friday or Sunday night will save you some money, but if you want to save a lot more pick a day in the middle of the week.

2) Get crafty:

If you’re a fan of handmade products and DIY projects, get crafty and make your own wedding stationery and even some decorations. You can always invite bridesmaids and family members to help you. It will take you no time to make all of that, but also you will spend quality time with your friends and new family members. What is even better when making your wedding invites can save you £8 per invite and imagine the look on your guests’ faces as they receive the unique and handmade invitation, priceless!

3) Wedding dress:

When looking for a wedding dress don’t get intimidated by the price tag. There are so many savings options and is easier than you think. Nowadays, many high street shops like Zara, Mango, H&M, TKMaxx, M&S and Monsoon sell budget wedding gowns. Also, look out for designer sample sales, where you can save thousands and don’t forget to check the dresses from the previous seasons. You can also search for the perfect gown in vintage shops or buy a used dress. In this case, you can get creative again and with the help of your mother or a friend add some bits to the dress or change it completely. Imagine wearing a dress that is only one in the entire world, pretty awesome!

4) Flowers:

Flowers can be so expensive, so when you are still planning to have a real deal try to find cheaper blooms which are in the season. Make sure that you check the various florists and don’t forget to negotiate, you would be surprised how much you can save simply by asking for a lower price that fits your budget. If you’re not happy about the cheaper flowers, use them for table centerpieces and buy more expensive flowers for your bouquet.

5) Be your own wedding DJ:

You only need your laptop and sound system that one of your guests would be happy to lend. Create a wedding playlist using iTunes or Spotify and you are good to go. You can also ask your friends to send you their favorite music tracks that remind them of you, in that way you can be sure that everyone will be on the dancefloor.
